Read and edit as a document
See Markdown as a visual document, make changes there, and use the outline to move between headings.
From Markdown to document · Windows

See Markdown as a visual document, make changes there, and use the outline to move between headings.
See tables alongside text and lists. Switch to Source to edit the Markdown.
When an open file changes on disk, see a notice or compare both versions before saving.
Print a document or export its visual rendering as a PDF when you want to share it.
The small feature visuals are illustrations, not app screenshots.
An example file-based workflow
Say a coding agent gives you a long plan and points you to the actions that need your attention. Open the Markdown file, choose that section from the outline, and work through the list in Visual.
Tick a checkbox and choose Save. The change goes into the same .md file, ready for the agent to read when it next checks the file.
It says: "Your tasks are under Your actions" in a Markdown plan.
Open the file and choose Your actions from the heading list.
Work in the document view, then choose Save.
When it next checks the file, it can see the completed task.
Tables and source
Tables in Markdown files are written as plain text, with | marks between columns. Nice Markdown shows the same information as a table in Visual, alongside the rest of your document. Switch to Source to see or edit the Markdown text, then return to Visual to read the table again.
Try itChoose Source to reveal the Markdown behind this table. Now choose Visual to see that Markdown rendered as a table.

A Markdown file can contain a Mermaid diagram: a few lines of text that describe boxes and arrows. Nice Markdown shows it as a diagram in Visual view, so you can follow the idea at a glance.
Choose Edit on the diagram to change its text, or switch to Source. The file stays ordinary Markdown.

You might edit a plan while a coding agent or another tool updates the same file. Nice Markdown notices the change and lets you review your proposed Save text beside the version on disk.
Reload the file with the other changes.
Choose your version, then save it.
Create a separate Markdown file and leave the original untouched.
Nice Markdown helps you choose what to keep. It does not merge the two versions or direct the other tool.
Everyday Markdown
Open one file or several, find what you need, and keep them in tabs. Choose a light or dark theme and a comfortable width, make your change, then save an .md file that other editors, scripts and coding agents can read. Your theme, layout and window are remembered next time.
